This was our final day in Ireland, and also my sister Emily's birthday! We let her pick our itinerary for the day, but had pre-planned an afternoon tea for later in the day, and also purchased tickets for the Dark Dublin Tour this evening. This morning Emily decided she wanted to visit Glasnevin Cemetary. We decided to pay for the individual tour guide, a pre-recorded device that you carry around with you and push the associated numbers to match the grave you are standing before to learn about the individual's story. You are given a map with each of the numbers listed, the trouble is that over the course of time some of the numbers have disappeared, so this turned into a bit of an "Easter egg hunt" if you will. By some miracle, we found each of the listed graves!

If you walk to the very back of the cemetery you will find a Botanical Garden. We stumbled upon this by surprise and enjoyed a peaceful walk through before returning to the bus stop to catch a ride back into downtown Dublin so we could walk to the Shelbourne Hotel for our very special afternoon tea! We had a very sweet hostess who gave us the rundown and let us know that if we liked any of the sandwiches or scones from the first couple of courses that we could request extra. We could then bring with us any extras that we did not eat. However, we could not take any extras with us if we requested them after dessert. Our tea was delicious, and we did request additional chicken and chive

The last event of our day was the Dark Dublin Tour which was led by Steven. He walked us through a portion of Dublin on the south side of the River Liffey. We started at City Hall, walked around to Dublin Castle, Christ Church Cathedral, St. Audoen's Church, Dublin's gated wall, and across the River Liffy to a mural of one of Dublin's strangest murderers, Billy in the Bowl. We heard many stories about a variety of topics, from stolen jewels, murderous bells, lucky bells, and other murderers. Ironically, in the St. Audoen's Church courtyard, home to the lucky bell, I found four 4 leafed clovers! This tour was a fun end to our final day in Ireland!
