We arrived a day early into Dublin to try and give ourselves a jump start at recovering from jet lag. For our day and a half in Dublin leading up to our welcome dinner we discovered iconic Dublin sights such as The Spire, Temple Bar, Ha'Penny Bridge over the River Liffey, Molly Malone, and more. Walking through the streets of Dublin we would catch the airy sound of a pub song floating on the air and follow that to its origin.
We were very eager to meet our tour group and guide the day of our first meeting! When we showed up we had to provide proof of a negative Covid test done that day, so we brought pictures we had taken with our negative tests. |

To communicate the plans of the day, Rick Steves Guides will leave these itineraries in an easy to find location near the hotel front desk. I love searching for these signs and ensuring that I take a photo of one for each day. Especially on the first day when finding the hotel for the first time, finding these signs feels like a victorious task such as something out of The Amazing Race! We found the location!

Day 2 is when the tour really gets started. After a hearty Irish breakfast we met up with our local guide and history college student, Dara, in the hotel lobby. We were soon on the street, heading toward Trinity College and the magical Book of Kells and the Long Room. The Book of Kells is incredibly beautiful and ornate book which was created during the Dark Ages of Europe. It was made during an Age of Enlightenment in Ireland. The Book of Kells is a manuscript of the four gospels of the New Testament written in Latin. We walked through the Long Room and Book of Kells exhibit on our own and met back with Dara and Pascal for the rest of the Dublin city tour. Our walking tour took us through Trinity College campus, the Temple
